Ljubljana

Description

Postojna Cave

Description

Postojna Cave is the best-known cave in the world. It is also the greatest tourist attraction in Slovenia and one of the world’s largest karst monuments. You need no special preparations to visit it: you only need an anorak and warm footwear, the temperature inside the cave is namely constant: 10 °C.

This is the only place in the world where the underground landscape can be traversed on an electric train and where you get to meet this underground kingdom’s most famous inhabitant – the proteus (olm) – up close. A fantastic web of tunnels, passages, galleries and halls, astonishing diversity of karst features, as well as easy access are certainly the main reasons for such popularity of the cave.

Piran

Description

One of the most photogenic cities in the Mediterranean, Piran has preserved its unsurpassed charm. Enter the picturesque Piran, get to know its rich history and culture.

When you visit Piran, you should take a closer look at its architecture, influenced by the Venetian Republic, which left its mark on most Istrian towns. Throughout time, Piran maintained the clustered medieval structure narrow winding streets, houses huddled close together, rising in cascades, the contact with the sea, numerous squares and churches. Tartini Square is the gem found in the very centre of Piran. It was named after the famous violinist and composer Giuseppe Tartini, who made the town world-famous. His statue is located in the centre of the square.

Bled

Description

Just 45 minutes from Ljubljana lays the magical Lake Bled with the only Slovenian Island. First you will experience ride with ‘pletna’ a traditional wooden vessel on Lake Bled. On the island there is a church with a wishing bell, so don’t forget to make a wish! After you can ascend the old castle perched on top of a steep cliff above the glacial Lake Bled. Castle terraces offer spectacular views of the lake and its tiny island in the middle. Take some time to enjoy the view and don’t forget to taste a local dessert called ‘Kremšnita’. It’s a delicious vanilla and custard cream cake that will make you want to have more.
